Incarnation

Virgil Warren, christir.org PDF

“God’s Love Made Visible” (David Brubec) aptly describes God’s taking on human form. His experience of human existence removes our tendency to feel that God does not really understand what it is like to be human. He “learned obedience by the things he suffered,” being tempted in the human condition; so we can more easily relate to him as a merciful and faithful “high Priest” and be more inclined to respond to his help (Hebrews 3:17-18).

It takes love to do what he did, especially to the extreme that he did it, first in leaving his privileged state above and then by taking on the worst of our state here.

The emblems he left behind are tokens of extreme living—for us. They are continuing reminders of “God’s love made visible.”
