Tokens of Love

Do you ever wonder whether somebody loves you? Do your parents care about you? What about your children? Do you think your husband, your wife, still loves you? What do your friends say that makes you confident that they care? Do your neighbors and fellow workers and church members do things that let you know how they regard you? Does it cross your mind that they may not mean it?

When it comes to the Lord’s Supper, we get a gratifying answer to this deep-down question that everybody asks. Nobody, but nobody, would give up his life, especially this way, unless he cared. There is nothing more anyone could do to prove to you where his heart is.

Receiving these simple tokens of love is now our way of saying something too. It’s our way of saying, “Thank you.”
