Remembering the Solution

Virgil Warren, christir.org PDF

It’s easier to stay out of trouble than to get out of it. It’s easier to avoid a problem than to solve it. But gathering here acknowledges that the “human problem” already exists; broken relationship with God and ruined friendships between people have already become the case for all of us.

More than that, the solution to the “human problem” is also in place as this memorial to Christ’s ultimate human righteousness shows. What it took to solve that problem shows how important solving it was and how much concern for us the savior had. Coming together here shows our intention in return to stay out of the problem by staying in him.

From what we can tell, God has not provided a solution to fallen angels, at least not through the cross of Christ. God “is not giving help to angels but to the seed of Abraham” (Hebrews 2:16), to us his people. So we acknowledge that help by taking emblems that represent what it took on God’s part to provide us a solution to our ‘human problem.”
