The Appointed Savior

Virgil Warren, christir.org PDF

Our Father sent our Brother into our situation to live out human righteousness to its highest level: self-sacrifice. Completing that venture in our realm, qualified him as savior of human children. So, the Father appointed him as sacrifice, savior, and priest in the true tabernacle of heaven itself. Committing ourselves to him is the Father’s condition for considering us righteous like him, which is the positive side of forgiveness.

These emblems picture Christ’s body given and his blood shed. So to speak, the roots of the vine whose fruit we are using were planted centuries ago when God called Abraham. The father of the faithful stands at the front end of the process that culminated on the cross, the cross we are remembering in this act of worship and commitment.
