Sunday. SALVATION. Our greatest blessing is salvation. We remember Christ’s death and resurrection throughout the year as well as at “Easter” time, but we note that about this time in the spring about two thousand years ago, Christ died and arose from the tomb. In doing so, he made a way to deliver us from our past sins; in so doing, he also provided continued forgiveness of subsequent sins through prayer. He gave obedient people hope of eternal life in heaven. (Read Galatians 4:10-11; Romans 4:24-25; Acts 8:13, 18-22.)
Monday. HUMAN ASSOCIATIONS. God understood the makeup of the people he made. Because he built us with a need for social life, he considered it not good that we should live alone. So, he established marriage, the home, and other acquaintances that help quench our thirst for personal associations. (Read Genesis 2:18-25.)
Tuesday. SPIRITUAL ASSOCIATIONS. It’s amazing that we can fellowship with God. Yet we do have this ongoing association with him through the Holy Spirit who dwells within us as an “earnest” (or downpayment) on our eternal inheritance, through Jeus who has promised to be with us till the end, and through God in personal prayers and devotion to him. We use these spiritual associations to satisfy our need for relationships. (Read Ezekiel 37:26-27; Ephesians 1:13-14; Matthew 28:20.)
Wednesday. PHYSICAL NECESSITIES. God blesses us with every physical blessing we need—the food we eat, the water we drink, the clothes we wear, the shelter that protects us from the elements. These things alone make us realize our blessedness, not counting the other benefits we have identified already. (Read Matthew 6:25-32.)
Thursday. MENTAL POWERS. We are not like the unconscious trees of the woods or the animals of the field because he has given us the ability to think and remember in a way that is beyond comparison with anything else he created on earth. (Read Isaiah 46:8-9; 2 Peter 1:12-15.)
Friday. PHYSICAL POWERS. Unlike grass on a hillside, we move about and carry out physical exercise. Our physical nature also combines with our mental capabilities as we maintain complete dominion over the dumb beasts of the earth. (Read Genesis 1:27-28.)
‘Saturday. EMOTIONAL POWERS. We are distinguished from all other earthly creations by our emotional nature. We can feel sad; we can be happy. But the greatest difference lies in our ability to love other people that we can see as well as God that we cannot see. (Read 1 John 4:20-21.)
