THE CHURCH OF TOMORROW TODAY
Sunday. The church means a lot to many young people. Straight carries articles about outstanding teens, the kind that seem to spend every spare minute at the church, that find a satisfaction in doing a good job for God, and are willing to try anything for him. Such examples are good ones to follow and better ones to set. (Read John 6:27.)
Monday. Not every student makes A’s, but parents, teachers, and administrators exert tremendous pressure on young people to make good grades in order to get into the crowded colleges and universities across our land. We’ve got to hand it to students that must struggle with their lessons, but love their church enough to attend all its services regardless of homework that night or tests the next day. (Read Ecclesiastes 12:12.)
Tuesday. Strong Christian conviction show up in young folk that bring their girlfriends or boyfriends to church with them. We witness an even more encouraging sign of a rather somber variety when a faithful Christian teen breaks up with a friend that continually refuses to have anything to do with the church. (Read 2 Corinthians 6:14-15.)
Wednesday. Your home may be one of the many households where you are the only one concerned with the affairs of the church. Brothers and sisters couldn’t care less, and parents show a polite indifference to appeals from members of the congregation. You represent those who are worthy of the Lord because you give him first place in your life. (Read Matthew 10:37.)
Thursday. Steve was a Jewish lad from New York City. He converted to Christianity despite his parents’ strong opposition. As a result, they disinherited him and, after orthodox Jewish custom, held his funeral as if he’d died. We thank God for young folk like Steve who rise above all obstacles in order to minister in the church of Jesus Christ. (Read Luke 12:51-53.)
Friday. Ronnie repeatedly got in trouble and appeared before the judge’s stand many times. “Juvenile delinquent” proper described him. Today he’s an example of Christian living and is preparing for service in the kingdom. He loves the church because it has done so much for him. (Read Luke 7:41-48.)
Saturday. Have you ever seen an outstanding athlete or musician pass up a sizeable scholarship? Christian colleges are filled with students that have turned down offers like these in order to prepare for specialized service. Consecrated young people are the hope of the church. (Read Hebrews 11:8-16.)
