Genesis Chapter 10
The Table of Nations
1 The Generations of Shem, Ham, and Japheth,
Noah’s Sons and Their Descendants
2 Japheth was the father of Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 Gomer was the father of Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 Javan was the father of Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5 Those descendants spread inland from the coasts into their nations, each by language and clan.
Gen 10:1-5
6 Ham was the father of Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
7Cush was the father of Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca.
Raamah was the father of Sheba and Dedan.
8 Cush was also the father of Nimrod, who became prominent in the world, 9 a great hunter before the LORD. It became an expression, “Like Nimrod, a great hunter before the LORD.” 10 His kingdom stretched across Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh in Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, 12 and Resen, a big city between Nineveh and Calah.
13 Mizraim became the father of the Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, 14 Pathrusim, Casluhim (ancestors of the Philistines), and Caphtorim.
Gen 10:6-14
15 Canaan became the father of Sidon, his firstborn, Heth, 16 the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, 17 Hivites, Arkites, Simites, 18 Arvadites, Zemarites, Hamathites. Afterwards the Canaanite clans spread out 19 from Sidon—on the way to Gera—as far as Gaza across to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim as far as Lasha.
20 Those were Ham’s descendants by clan, language, territory, and nation.
Gen 10:15-20
21 Shem, Japheth’s older brother, became the ancestor of Eber’s descendants. 22 Shem’s sons were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.
23 Aram’s sons were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Arpachshad became the father of Shelah, father of Eber.
25 Eber had two sons.
One was Peleg; in his time the earth divided. Joktan was his brother, 26 and father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. 30 They lived from Mesha all the way to Sephar in the eastern hill country.
31 Those were Shem’s descendants by clan, language, territory, and nation.
32 Those were the clans of Noah’s descendants by genealogy, language, and nation. Nations spread out from them after the flood.
