Psalms Chapter 3

A Psalm of David When He Fled from His Son Absalom

1 LORD, I have so many enemies;

      so many are working against me;

         2so many are saying,

            “God’s not going to help him.”                                  Ps 3:1-2

3 But you’re my shield, LORD, my glory,

         the One that holds my head up.

4 When I call out to you,

      you answer from your holy mountain.

5 I lie down to sleep and wake up again

      because you sustain me.

6 I won’t be afraid if 10,000 oppose me.

7 Arise, LORD; rescue me.

      Slap my enemies;

      knock out their teeth.

8 Victory comes from you;

      bless your people!                                                             Ps 3:3-8
