Psalms Chapter 137

1 We sat by the rivers in Babylon

and cried when we remembered Zion.

2 We hung our harps on its willows.

3 Our captors required us to sing there;

      our tormentors demanded happy songs,

“Sing us a song from Zion.”

Ps 137:1-3

4 How can we sing about the LORD in a foreign land?

5 If I forget you, Jerusalem,

         may my right hand wither.

6 May my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth

      if I don’t remember you,

      if I don’t regard Jerusalem

            above my greatest joy.

7 Remember, LORD, against the Edomites

the day of Jerusalem, when they said to the Babylonians,

“Tear it down, tear it down to its foundation.”

8 Young woman of Babylon, you devastated one,

how happy will be the one that repays you

with what you did to us.

9 How happy will the one be that grabs your infants

and dashes them against the rocks!

Ps 137:4-9
