Psalms Chapter 29

A Psalm of David

1 Children of the mighty,

      attribute to the LORD honor and strength.

2 Honor him like he deserves;

      worship him in his holy splendor.

Ps 29:1-2

3 The sound from the LORD carries out over the water;

      our glorious God thunders across the ocean expanse.

4 His voice is loud and majestic

         5and blows down cedars in Lebanon.

6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf

      and Sirion [Mt. Hermon] jump around like a young wild ox.

7 The sound from the LORD flashes out lightning bolts

      8 and shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh;

         9it makes deer go into labor

                  and strips the trees bare.

In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”

10 The LORD sits like a king above the flood,

         enthroned forever.

11 He gives his people courage

      and blesses them with peace.

Ps 29:3-11
