Psalms Chapter 32

A Maskil. A Psalm of David

1 How blessed they are whose sin God forgives,

      whose transgression he covers;

         2whose disobedience the LORD doesn’t hold against them,

      whose spirit doesn’t harbor deceit!

3 When I didn’t acknowledge my sin,

         my body wasted away,

      I moaned all day,

         4your hand weighed on me day and night,

      my strength drained away in the summer heat.

5 When I acknowledged it and said, “I’ll confess my sin to the LORD,”

      you forgave me.

6 So everyone that’s godly needs to pray to you

      while there’s time;

      so when distress floods in,

      it won’t overwhelm them.

7 You’re our hiding place

         for protecting us from trouble

         and surrounding us with songs about deliverance.           Ps 32:1-7

8 I’ll teach you the way to go;

      I’ll focus my attention on you and advise you.

9 Don’t be like a senseless horse or mule

      that needs a bit and bridle to make it obey.

10 Sinful people incur lots of sorrow,

         but enduring love surrounds those who trust the LORD.

11 Be happy and celebrate in him;

      shout for joy, all of you with godly hearts.

Ps 32:8-11
