Psalms Chapter 33
1 Sing for joy to the LORD, good people;
praise is fitting for the godly.
2 Give him thanks with a lyre;
sing praises to him with a ten-string harp.
3 Sing a new song to him;
play skillfully and shout for joy.
4 You can believe what he says
and rely on what he does.
5 He loves goodness and justice,
and fills the world with his enduring love.
Ps 33:1-5
6 The LORD made the sky with a word,
all its host with the breath from his mouth.
7 He gathered the water in the ocean
and stored up the depths in reservoirs.
8 The whole world must respect him
and stand in awe of him.
9 He spoke and it happened;
he commanded and it occurred.
10 The LORD overrides the counsel of nations
and frustrates the peoples’ plans.
11 His counsel stands forever;
his plans endure across the generations.
Ps 33:6-11
12 The nation is blessed whose God is the LORD,
the people he’s chosen for his inheritance.
13 The LORD looks down from heaven at everyone;
14from where he sits, he sees the whole human race.
15 He made their hearts;
so he understands what they do.
16 A king doesn’t prevail by his large army;
a soldier doesn’t save himself by his great strength.
17 A warhorse gives false hope for victory;
it doesn’t deliver anyone by its power.
Ps 33:12-17
18 The LORD watches over those who respect him,
who place their hope in his enduring love
19to deliver them from death
and keep them alive at famine time.
20 We wait for him, our help and shield,
21and celebrate in him because we trust in him.
22 Send down your enduring love to us, LORD,
because we’ve put our hope in you.
Ps 33:18-22
