Psalms Chapter 34
A Psalm of David When He Faked Insanity
in front of Abimelech, Who Drove Him Away
1 I’ll bless the LORD at all times
and praise him constantly.
2 I’ll make my boast about him;
the helpless will hear it and take heart.
3 Let’s tell how great the LORD is;
let’s honor him together.
4 I looked to the LORD; he answered me
and freed me from my fears.
5 People that look to him are radiant;
they never look subdued.
6 I cried out in my suffering, and he listened
and saved me from my troubles.
7 An angel of the LORD camps around people that respect him,
and he rescues them.
Ps 34:1-7
8 Taste and find out how good the LORD is,
how blessed everyone is that takes refuge in him!
9 Respect him, his holy people;
those who do, have everything they need.
10 Young lions get hungry,
but anyone that looks to the LORD has everything good.
11 Come, children, listen to me;
I’ll teach you to respect the LORD.
12 Who wants to live
a long time and prosper?
13Keep your tongue from sinning
and your lips from lying.
14Quit doing bad and do good;
look for peace and pursue it.
Ps 34:8-14
15 The LORD watches over good people
and hears them cry out to him.
16 He turns against those who practice sin,
and erases the memory of them.
17 When good people call for help; he listens
and rescues them from their troubles.
18 He’s close to the brokenhearted
and saves those whose spirit is crushed.
19 Good people face lots of trouble,
but the LORD delivers them.
20 They keep all their bones;
not a one of them will be broken.
21 Sin slays the sinful;
God punishes those who hate the righteous.
22 He redeems his servants;
he doesn’t condemn anyone that takes refuge in him.
Ps 34:15-22
