Psalms Chapter 46

                                                            For the Choir Director

A Psalm of the Sons of Korah

Set to Alamoth. A Song

1 God is our refuge and strength,

      an ever-present help when trouble comes.

2 So we won’t be afraid

                  though the ground tremors,

            though the mountains cascade into the sea,

                  3though its water roars and foams,

            though the ground quakes at its tsunamis.

4 There’s a river of joy that flows into the city of God,

         the sacred place where the Most High lives.

5 God is there; it’s unmovable;

      from the break of day, he protects it.

6 When nations rage and kingdoms totter,

      his voice thunders and earth melts away.

7 The LORD of Hosts is with us;

      the God of Jacob is our refuge.                                     Ps 46:1-7

8 Come and look at what the LORD does:

      he brings destruction on the earth;

         9he stops wars all over the world;

         he breaks bows and snaps spears in two;

         he burns chariots.

10 So be still and know that I’m God;

                  exalted in every nation,

             honored all over the world.”

11 The LORD of Hosts is with us;

      the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Ps 46:8-11
