1 Chronicles Chapter 4

1 The sons of JUDAH: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal

2 Reaiah Ben-Shobal was father of Jahath Avi-Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites.

3 These were the sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; their sister was Hazzelelponi.

4 Penuel was father of Gedor and Ezer Avi-Hushah. Those were the sons of Hur firstborn of Ephrathah ancestor of Bethlehem.

5 Ashhur father of Tekoa had two wives: Helah and Naarah. 6 Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. 7 The sons of Helah were Zereth, Izhar, Ethnan,

8 and Koz, ancestor of Anub and Zobebah and the families of Aharhel Ben-Harum.

9 A man named Jabez had more honor than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez because she bore him “in pain.” 10 Jabez called on the God of Israel, “Oh that you’d bless me and make my territory bigger, be with me, and keep me from harm so I won’t suffer!” God gave him what he asked.                                                                                    1 Ch 4:1-10

11 Chelub brother of Shuhah was father of Mehir Avi-Eshton.

12 Eshton was father of Beth-rapha, Paseah, and Tehinnah Avi-Irnahash. These

                  were the men of Recah.

13 The sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah.

The son of Othniel was Hathath.

14bSeraiah was father of Joab, founder of Ge-harashim, so-called because they were craftsmen.

         14aMeonothai was father of Ophrah.

15 The sons of Caleb Ben-Jephunneh were Iru, Elah, and Naam.

The son of Elah was Kenaz.

16 The sons of Jehallelel were Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel.

17 The sons of Ezrah were Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. These are the sons of Bithia Pharaoh’s daughter that Mered married. She bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah Avi-Eshtemoa. 18 His Jewish wife bore Jered Avi-Gedor, Heber Avi-Soco, and Jekuthiel Avi-Zanoah. 19 The sons of the wife of Hodiah sister of Naham were the fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.                                                                                                     1 Ch 4:11-19

20 The sons of Shimon were Amnon and Rinnah, Benhanan and Tilon.

The sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Benzoheth.

21The sons of Shelah Ben-Judah were Er Avi-Lecah, Laadah Avi-Mareshah, the families of the linen workers at Beth-ashbea, 22 Jokim the men of Cozeba, Joash Saraph, who ruled in Moab; and Jashubi-lehem. The records are ancient. 23 These were the potters and people of Netaim and Gederah. They lived there with the king for his work.                                                     1 Ch 4:20-23

24 The sons of SIMEON: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul

            25 Shaul was Avi-Shallum Avi-Mibsam Avi-Mishma.

26 Mishma was father of Hammuel, Zaccur, and Shimei.

27 Shimei had 16 sons and 6 daughters, but his brothers didn’t have

many sons. Their whole family didn’t multiply like the

descendants of Judah. 28 They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, and Hazar-shual, 29 at Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, 30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, 31 Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-Birei, and Shaaraim. Those were their towns till David’s reign. 32 Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan—5 towns, 33 along with the villages that were around them as far as Baal. These were their settlements, and they kept a genealogy. 34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah Ben-Amaziah; 35 Joel, Jehu Ben-Joshibiah Ben-Seraiah Ben-Asiel; 36 Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, 37 Ziza Ben-Shiphi Ben-Allon Ben-Jedaiah Ben-Shimri Ben-Shemaiah: 38 these named were leaders in their clans, and their families increased greatly. 39 They went to the entrance of Gedor, to the east side of the valley, to look for pasture for their flocks. 40 They found good pasture, and the land was large and quiet and peaceful; the previous residents were Hamites. 41 These, according to the records, came at the time of Hezekiah, king of Judah, and attacked their tents as well as the Meunites that were there, and destroyed them till today, and lived in place of them, because there was pasture for their flocks. 42 From them—from the descendants of Simeon—500 men went to Mount Seir with Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, sons of Ishi as their leaders. 43 They destroyed the remnant of the Amalekites that escaped and have lived there ever since.   1 Ch 4:24-43
