2 Chronicles Chapter 3

Solomon Builds the Temple

1 Solomon started building Yahveh’s Temple on Mount Moriah, where Yahveh had appeared to David, the place David prepared on the threshing floor of Ornan/Araunah the Jebusite. 2 He began construction on the second day, second month, fourth year of his reign.

3 The foundation for God’s Temple was 30 x 90ft.

4 The porch in front of it was 30ft wide and 180ft tall, overlaid with pure gold inside.

5 He lined the Temple itself with cypress wood overlaid with fine gold and decorated with palm trees and chains;

         6adorned the Temple with precious stones—the gold was from Parvaim;

         7overlaid the Temple with gold—the beams, thresholds, walls, and doors—and carved

cherubs on the walls;

         8made the Holy of Holies—30ft square, equaling the width of the Temple—and overlaid it with 22 2/3 tons 600 talents of fine gold—9 the spikes weighed 20 oz 50 shekels of gold;

      overlaid the upper rooms with gold.                                                                 2 Ch 3:1-9

10 He made 2 sculpted cherubs in the Holy of Holies and overlaid them with gold. 11 The combined wingspan of the cherubs was 30ft. The wing of one (7½ft) touched the wall of the Temple. The other wing (7½ft) touched the wing of the second cherub. 12 The wing of the second cherub (7½ft) touched the opposite wall. The other wing (7½ft) was attached to the wing of the first cherub. 13 They stood on their feet facing the nave.

14 He made a curtain out of violet, purple, crimson, and fine linen, and worked cherubs on

            it;

15 two pillars in front of the Temple 53ft tall, with 7½ft capitals on top of each one;

                           16chains in the inner sanctuary and on top of the pillars;

                  100 pomegranates and put them on the chains;

17 He set up the pillars on the right and left that he named Jachin and Boaz respectively.
