Exodus Chapter 11

Plague on the Firstborn

1 Yahveh told Moses,

“I’m going to bring one more plague on Pharaoh and Egypt. After that, he’ll let you go. When he does, he’ll drive you out completely. 2 Tell each man and woman to ask their neighbors for silver and gold articles.”

3 Yahveh gave the Egyptians a favorable attitude toward the people. Furthermore, Pharaoh’s officers and the people in general respected Moses a lot.

Ex 11:1-3

4 Moses said,

“Yahveh says, ‘About midnight I’ll go out into Egypt, 5 and all firstborn will die—the firstborn of Pharaoh on his throne, the firstborn of the slave girl behind the millstones, the firstborn among the livestock. 6 There’ll be such an outcry everywhere in Egypt as has never been heard or will be. 7 But among the Israelites, not even a dog will bark at people or animals. You’llsg see how Yahveh distinguishes Israel from Egypt.

8 ‘Yoursg officials will come and bow to me and say, “Leave, you and your people.” Then I’ll leave.’”

He left Pharaoh really mad.

9 Yahveh told Moses, “Pharaoh won’t listen; so I’ll multiply my wonders in Egypt.” 10 Moses and Aaron performed those wonders for him, but Yahveh hardened his heart, and he wouldn’t let the people go.
