Exodus Chapter 11

Plague on the Firstborn

¹ Yahveh told Moses,    

“I’m going to bring one more plague on Pharaoh and Egypt. After that, he’ll let you go. When he does, he’ll drive you out completely. ² Tell each man and woman to ask their neighbors for silver and gold articles.”                                                   

³ Yahveh gave the Egyptians a favorable attitude toward the people. Furthermore, Pharaoh’s officers and the people in general respected Moses a lot.                                                                                                                                        

Ex 11:1-3

⁴ Moses said,

“Yahveh says, ‘About midnight I’ll go out into Egypt, ⁵ and all firstborn will die—the firstborn of Pharaoh on his throne, the firstborn of the slave girl behind the millstones, the firstborn among the livestock. ⁶ There’ll be such an outcry everywhere in Egypt as has never been heard or will be. ⁷ But among the Israelites, not even a dog will bark at people or animals. You’ll^sg see how Yahveh distinguishes Israel from Egypt.

⁸ ‘Your^sg officials will come and bow to me and say, “Leave, you and your people.” Then I’ll leave.’”

He left Pharaoh really mad.

⁹ Yahveh told Moses, “Pharaoh won’t listen; so I’ll multiply my wonders in Egypt.” ¹⁰ Moses and Aaron performed those wonders for him, but Yahveh hardened his heart, and he wouldn’t let the people go.
