Genesis Chapter 36

¹ Esau’s (Edom’s) Generations

^{2 2} Esau married Canaanite women: Adah Bat-Elon the Hittite; Oholibamah Bat-Anah Ben-Zibeon the Hivite; ³ and Basemath/Mahalath Bat-Ishmael, sister of Nebaioth. ⁴ Adah had Eliphaz; Basemath had Reuel, ⁵ Oholibamah had Jeush, Jalam, and Korah—all born in Canaan. 

⁶ Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, household, livestock, cattle, and goods he’d gained in Canaan, and moved to a territory away from Jacob. ⁷ Their livestock had become too much for the land to support them both. ^8-9 Esau, ancestor of the Edomites, lived in the hill country of Seir.

¹⁸ Jeush, Jalam, Korah—descendants by Oholibamah Bat-Anah

The Previous Inhabitants of Edom

            ²⁰ The sons of Seir the Horite, the people in the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, ²¹ Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan—chiefs descended from the Horites, sons of Seir in Edom

                        ²² The sons of Lotan: Hori and Hemam; Lotan’s sister was Timna.

                        ²³ The sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam

                        ²⁴ The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah (who found the hot springs in the

countryside when he was pasturing Zibeon’s donkeys)

                        ²⁵ The children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah, Anah’s daughter

                        ²⁶ The sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran

                        ²⁷ The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan

                        ²⁸ The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran

Gen 36:20-30

Rulers of Edom

            ³¹ The kings that ruled in Edom before any king ruled in Israel:

                        ³² Bela Ben-Beor ruled over Edom; his city was Dinhabah. ³³ He died, and

                        Jobab Ben-Zerah from Bozrah ruled. ³⁴ He died, and            

                        Husham from the land of the Teman ruled. ³⁵ He died, and

                        Hadad Ben-Bedad (who defeated Midian in Moab) ruled. ³⁶ He died, and

Samlah from Masrekah ruled. ³⁷ He died, and

Shaul from Rehoboth on the River Euphrates ruled. ³⁸ He died;

Baal-hanan Ben-Achbor ruled. ³⁹ He died, and

Hadar ruled. His city was Pau; his wife was Mehetabel Bat-Matred Bat-Mezahab.
