Psalms Chapter 112

                                                                        ¹Hallelujah!

How blessed people are that respect Yahveh

      and delight in what he calls on them to do.

² Their descendants will be successful

      and a blessing to their own generation.

³ They’ll have wealth and riches in their homes,

      and their goodness will last forever.

⁴ Godly people have light in the dark;

      they’re gracious, merciful, and good.

⁵ Goodness comes to those who graciously lend

      and conduct their affairs with justice.

⁶ Misfortune won’t overcome them,

      and people will remember the good they’ve done.         

Ps 112:1-6

⁷ Bad news doesn’t scare people like that

            because they’ve committed themselves to Yahveh they trust;

         ⁸they’re confident and courageous

            and face their adversaries with assurance.

⁹ They give freely to the poor,

      so their goodness lasts forever

            in ongoing influence and honor.

¹⁰ Sinners will see that and get mad;

      they’ll grit their teeth—and leave;

      what they wanted won’t happen.
