Psalms Chapter 16

A Mikhtam of David

1 Protect me, Yahveh; you’re my refuge.

2 I say, “You’re my Lord;

      apart from you, I don’t have anything good.”

3 The godly people on earth are the noble ones I delight in.

4 Trouble multiplies

                  for those who rush off to some other god;

      I won’t pour out blood offerings with them

            or even say their names.

5 Yahveh is my permanent possession, my cup;

      he holds in safekeeping what’s allotted to me.

6 The boundary lines of my inheritance fall in good places;

         it’s a beautiful land.

Ps 16:1-6

7 I’ll bless Yahveh that guides me;

      even at night my heart teaches me.

8 I keep himY continually beside me,

      at my right hand so I don’t get unsettled.

9 So I’m happy and celebrate;

         my body will also rest secure

            10 because you won’t abandon me in Sheol,

            or let your Holy One decay.

11 You’ll show me how to live;

      there’s total joy when you’re around,

            with eternal delights with you.
