Psalms Chapter 29

A Psalm of David

¹ Children of the mighty,

      attribute to Yahveh honor and strength.

² Honor him like he deserves;

      worship him in his holy splendor.

Ps 29:1-2

³ The sound from Yahveh carries out over the water;

      our glorious God thunders across the ocean expanse.

⁴ His voice is loud and majestic

         ⁵and blows down cedars in Lebanon.

⁶ He makes Lebanon skip like a calf

      and Sirion [Mt. Hermon] jump around like a young wild ox.

⁷ The sound from Yahveh flashes out lightning bolts

      ⁸ and shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh;

         ⁹it makes deer go into labor

                  and strips the trees bare.

In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”

¹⁰ Yahveh sits like a king above the flood,

         enthroned forever.

¹¹ He gives his people courage

      and blesses them with peace.
