Psalms Chapter 64

For the Choir Director. A Psalm of David

1 Listen to my complaint, God;

      keep me from living in dread of my enemies.

2 Hide me from the secret plots of bad people,

      from the schemes of sinners

                  3that sharpen their tongue like a sword,

            that aim bitter words like arrows,

                  4that shoot at innocent people from hiding places,

            and do it suddenly without qualms.

5 They latch onto sinful purposes

      and talk secretly about setting traps;

      they say, “Who will notice?”

6 They look for ways to be unjust,

      “We’re ready with a well-conceived plot,”

      because the human mind and heart are cunning.

Ps 64:1-6

7 But God will wound them with an arrow

                  8and make them trip over their tongues!

      Everybody that sees them will shake their heads.

9 Then everybody will be respectful

      and talk about what God’s done

      and ponder what he’s made.

10 Good people will be happy in Yahveh

            and take refuge in him;

      the godly in heart will honor him.
