Psalms Chapter 66

For the Choir Director. A Psalm. A Song

1 Make a joyful sound to God, all the earth.

2 Sing about his honor;

      make his praise glorious.

3 Say to him, “What you do is so awesome!

      Your enemies feign obedience to you

            out of fear for your power.

4 All the earth worships you and praises you;

      they sing praises to you.”

Ps 66:1-4

5 Come and see what God has done;

      it’s awesome what he’s done for people.

6 He turned the Red Sea into dry ground;

      the people crossed through the Jordan on foot;

      they celebrated over him there.

7 He rules by his power forever;

      he keeps watch over the nations;

      the rebellious don’t make an uprising.

Ps 66:5-7

8 Bless our God, you nations;

      sound his praise abroad.

9 He keeps us alive

      and doesn’t let our feet slip.

10 You’ve tried us, God,

      and refined us like silver.

11 You caught us in your net

      and laid a heavy load in our lap.

12 You put a ruler over us

      and passed us through fire and water;

      yet you brought us out into a large place.

13 I’ll come to your Temple with burnt offerings

      and keep the vows 14 I made when I was in trouble.

15 I’ll offer you burnt offerings of healthy animals

            with the smoke of rams;

      I’ll offer bulls and male goats.

Ps 66:8-15

16 Come and listen, you that respect God,

      and I’ll tell you what he’s done for me.

17 I appealed to him with my mouth

      and extolled him with my tongue.

18 If I cherish sinfulness in my heart,

      Yahveh won’t hear me.

19 But he’s certainly heard me;

      he’s listened to my prayer.

20 Bless God,

      who hasn’t ignored my prayer

      or withdrawn his enduring love.

Ps 66:16-20
