Psalms Chapter 83

A Song. A Psalm of Asaph

1 God, don’t keep quiet; don’t be silent.

2 Your enemies are making an uproar;

      those who hate you are exalting themselves.

3 They’re plotting against your people,

         conspiring against them 4 and saying,

            “Let’s wipe out their nation

                  so no one will remember them anymore.”

5 Together they’re signing a treaty against you:

            6 Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites;

                  7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;

            Philistia and the people in Tyre;

                  8Assyria has joined them too;

            they’re allied with Lot’s descendants.

Ps 83:1-8

9 Deal with them like you dealt with Midian,

      with Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River,

         10that you destroyed at En-dor,

      that became like manure on the ground.

11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb

      and their officials like Zebah and Zalmunna,

         12who said, “Let’s take over God’s pastures.”

Ps 83:9-12

13 Make them like whirling dust,

      like chaff in the wind.

14 Like a wildfire that burns a whole forest,

      like a flame that sets mountains on fire;

         15chase them with your storm;

      terrify them with your tempest.

16 Write shame all over their faces

      till they submit to you, Yahveh.

17 Frighten them forever;

      let them die in disgrace

         18so they’ll know that you

      are supreme over the whole world.

Ps 83:13-18
