Psalms Chapter 94
1 Yahveh God of vengeance, shine!
2 Rise up, Judge of the whole world;
repay the proud.
3 How long will you let sinners celebrate?
4 How long will they pour out their arrogant words,
vaunt themselves up
5crush your people,
attack your heritage
6murder widows and foreigners and orphans,
7and say, “Yahveh’s not watching;
Jacob’s God is not paying attention.”
Ps 94:1-7
8 You silly people, you pay attention;
when will you ever understand?
9 Can’t he hear, who created the ear?
Can’t he see, who formed the eye?
10 Won’t he that rebukes nations, discipline you;
doesn’t the Source of knowledge know what you’re doing?
11 Yahveh knows that your thoughts
are nothing but hot air.
12 The ones you discipline are blessed, Yahveh,
the ones you teach out of the Law;
13 so you can grant them relief in adversity,
till you dig a pit for the wicked.
14 Yahveh won’t abandon his people
or forsake his inheritance.
15 The administration of justice will be good again,
and the godly will follow it.
16 Who else will stand up for me against evil people?
Who else will take a stand for me against sinners?
Ps 94:8-16
17 If Yahveh hadn’t helped me,
I would soon have occupied the silent place.
18When I cried out, “I’m slipping,”
his enduring love kept me from falling.
19When my anxious thoughts multiplied,
he cheered me up.
20 Can corrupt rulers be his allies
and plot schemes with their wicked laws?
21 Can they gang up on good people
and condemn the innocent to death?
22 No, because Yahveh is my fortress;
my God the Rock is my refuge.
23 He’ll bring their sinfulness back on them
and destroy them with their own evil;
Yahveh our God will wipe them out.
Ps 94:17-23
