Psalms Chapter 97

¹ Yahveh reigns; let the world rejoice;

      let the distant shores be glad.

² Clouds and dense darkness surround him;

      goodness and justice are the foundation for his throne.

³ Fire goes forth ahead of him

      and burns up his adversaries.

⁴ His lightning lights up the world;

      the world sees it and trembles.

⁵ The mountains melt like wax

         at his^Y presence everywhere.

⁶ The sky declares his goodness;

      every nation can see his glory.                                        

Ps 97:1-6

⁷ Let those who worship carved images be discredited,         

            those who take pride in idols;

      bow to him, all you gods.

⁸ Zion hears that and is happy;

         the towns in Judah celebrate

                  because of your justice, Yahveh,

⁹ You’re greater than all gods.

¹⁰ Hate evil, you that love Yahveh,

         who preserves his holy people

      and delivers them from sinners.

¹¹ Light is sown like seed for the godly,

      like happiness for the godly in heart.

¹² Be happy in him, good people;

      praise him for his holiness.
